Enormous, deep purple, and reed-thin, it was not unusual for Korneliuss to find himself unique on the daily commute.
Today, unnaturalness struck in a different manner; the dilapidated bus’s many rattles and bumps could not dislodge the owl-like stare of a young girl across the row.
Korneliuss coughed, and ruffled his newspaper between his second set of hands, holding his monocle and bagel with his first. Korneliuss hated children; their shifty little eyes could always see him.
And she was using hers to gawk.
He broke.
“Can I help you?”
"You're sitting inside of a suitcase."
"I'm intangible."
"You're rude."

This is, please, a fragment of a larger story that you are utterly compelled to elaborate on, right? :D
ReplyDeletebecause i dearly love it. so do write more if you have more ideas.
XD LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. The imagery in this made me want to hug it. "Their shifty little eyes could always see him" That was a great line. Gives characterization to Cornelius and is amazingly true at capturing a child. Child stare at random strangers that intrigue them.
ReplyDeletei'm wondering how the song inspired this imagery in particular...the general compliments apply. :)
ReplyDeleteMy imagination is a cavernous and frighting place; this particular 101 was inspired by like two lines of the song that would not get out of my head at 10:15 at night.
ReplyDelete"I'm intangible."
ReplyDelete"You're rude."
Love.
