Everyone was convinced that Brendan Gaffsten was their savior.
A genius, a demi-god.
He was also a completely unmotivated teenager.
Still, everyone believed that Gaffsten was a genius,
but no-one had ever seen him weave a calculation.
"He's brilliant," his mother swore to every news crew. "He just doesn't try!"
High in his tower, Brendan stared down at his crumpled kingdom, at the desert beyond, and at the impending doom that awaited all if he did not put his wits to work.
Brendan looked into the face of demise
and opted for a nice long nap.
the world's problems would wait.

Brendan Gaffsten sounds like the kind of character I would love to read. I have a morbid fascination with completely unmotivated geniuses.
